OTHER DETAILS & FAQs

  • Generally speaking, therapy addresses the past and coaching co-creates the future.

However, there's overlap, because humans are influenced by their past experiences. Meaning, our lives don't change very much if we can't understand why we do-what-we-do in the present. And why we do anything in the present is based on our projection of future results, which are invariably tied to our past experiences. In other words, our future and past are intertwined (unless we can see things in real time, and that's one the goals!).

A helpful metaphor: In the physical space, when would you hire a physical therapist? And when would you hire a coach? There is some overlap but they both provide different, valuable services. Would you hire a physical therapist if you weren't injured? Would you hire a coach if you were injured? Probably not. Depending on your needs and limitations you might need one or the other, or even both. It's no different in the mental and emotional health space.

  • Absolutely!

Psychotherapy and Mental Coaching work is not specific to sex. This work. is about identifying and reframing self-imposed beliefs/perceptions that keep you feeling stuck/conflicted. It’s a human condition.

  • Conversational.

You articulate what’s in your head and what you’re feeling. Language provides context clues about what you believe/perceive and what you’re dealing with. I listen. I hear things that you don’t pick up on (blindspots) and we start to get to know you without judgment. You find out why you are-the-way-you-are and you find out why you do-what-you-do.

Another metaphor- it's like collecting puzzle pieces. One puzzle piece by itself doesn't provide much information. But when enough puzzle pieces start to connect, you can see the whole picture and it all makes sense!

The result is a macro view of yourself and your beliefs. It’s like a fish-out-of-water. You've been too close-in to see the "water." The result is understanding compulsions so you are able to be more intentional.

  • No.

Insurance requires a mental health diagnosis to cover services. This requirement does not align with the coaching approach, which focuses on personal development and doesn’t involve diagnosing mental health conditions.

Furthermore, coaching is often seen as a service that focuses on personal and professional development rather than treating medical conditions. This distinction means that insurance coverage is generally not applicable to coaching services.

  • Yes.

But this is a question for your tax professional/accountant to answer for you.

Mindfulness and Subconscious coaching will impact your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in all areas of your life, including work/career. Some clients talk specifically about work related subjects and the perceptions and meaning they’re generating from these events and circumstances. It's all connected!

  • You’ll start to get a new perspective after our first session.

Unlike physical health which takes time and consistency, you can change your mind in an instant. However, there is a great quote that sums up this work:

“Not even the greatest guru in the world can take a single step for you.” -Anthony De Mello

  • Everyone can benefit from truly getting to know themselves.

There is no better way to improve your relationships than by improving the way way you relate to yourself. And this comes through a thorough understanding of yourself and human nature.

  • Jesse King: You are powerful in the fact that you alone create your subjective reality.

Merriam-Webster: A mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations.

American Psychological Association: Awareness of one’s internal states and surroundings. Mindfulness can help people avoid destructive or automatic habits and responses by learning to observe their thoughts, emotions, and other present-moment experiences without judging or reacting to them.

  • Jesse King: You generate 'meaning' about everything, and more specifically- what it means about you. This 'meaning' is driving your thoughts and behavior, unbeknownst to you.

Merriam-Webster: Existing in the mind but not immediately available to consciousness (state of being aware).

American Psychological Association: A level of consciousness at which a stimulus may affect behavior even though the person is not explicitly aware of it.

  • Virtually.

Sessions are conducted through Zoom for the following benefits. However, if you are in the Austin, Texas area, we will likely meet in-person as schedules permit.

    1. Convenience: eliminates the need for commuting, making it highly convenient for individuals with busy schedules or those living in remote areas.

    2. Accessibility: breaks down geographical barriers, allowing individuals to access services from far away. This widens the scope for finding the right professional to suit your needs.

    3. Flexibility: offers more flexible scheduling options, accommodating different time zones and varying work or personal commitments.

    4. Comfort & Privacy: being in your own space can enhance comfort and openness during sessions. For some, it may feel easier to express thoughts and feelings from a familiar environment, thus promoting a greater level of transparency.

    5. Continuity: ensures continuity in receiving support even during travel, illness, or adverse weather conditions, maintaining regularity in sessions.

  • If you’re seeking to understand yourself better, are open to self-exploration, and are willing to commit to personal growth, mindfulness and subconscious coaching will be a rewarding experience for you.
